Foley Academy provides dancers with many competition resources so that they are fully informed and ready to take part in Feiseanna. Participating in competitions is a great way to improve your dance technique, movements, and skills. Furthermore, dancers build confidence, motivation, and dedication. Competitions allow dancers to see their hard work pay off while also having fun and making friends with team members and dancers from all around the world.
Competing is NOT required; it is an individual’s choice. Foley Academy dancers interested in competing may register for a competition after receiving approval. The Director gives approval to those who attend the Feising 101 seminar and demonstrate the ability to perform steps in a suitable manner required for competitions.
The Feising 101 seminar is mandatory for prospective competitors. Therefore, the Director will provide all details regarding competitions, including Solo and Team (Ceili) categories, age groups, registration, costumes, required dances, progressing through the competition levels, awards, Major competitions (Regionals, Nationals, Worlds), etc. In addition, the Director will answer any questions that dancers are parents have.
We use the word “Feis” to describe an Irish Dance competition. Because the Foley Academy is registered with the CLRG, dancers are able to compete in CLRG sanctioned Feiseanna (plural of Feis).
