The Reston Regional Library invited us to perform at an afternoon event for the library visitors. The dancers had a wonderful time performing in a relaxed atmosphere, showcasing all of their soft shoe dances. In addition, we provided a free lesson to audience members who wanted to learn a simple ceili and beginner step. 2018 Reston Holiday Parade
This was our first time participating in the Reston Holiday Parade! Even though it was very chilly that morning, we stayed warm with hot chocolate and cider, as well as snacks, provided by our wonderful parents and adult dancers. Once the parade started, we had fun dancing down Market Street and performing at both grandstands. All of the dancers wore their brand new Foley Academy Tracksuits, which perfectly matched the theme of the parade. We also decorated Ms. Shannon’s car with banners, snowflakes, christmas lights, and garlands. We are looking forward to dancing in the parade again next year! For pictures, CLICK HERE.
2018 St. Timothy’s International Festival
On Saturday, October 20, 2018, Foley Academy performed at St. Timothy’s International Festival in Chantilly. This was a wonderful family event for our dancers to showcase their routines, and we had a few first time performers who did a fantastic job! 2018 Reston Multicultural Festival
On Saturday, September 22, 2018, Foley Academy dancers performed at the Reston Multicultural Festival on the World Stage in front of Lake Anne. With the majority of our dancers being from Reston/Herndon, this festival was a great way for them to show that Irish Culture and Dance is alive in our community! Foley Academy was thrilled to bring Ireland to this year’s Reston Multicultural Festival, and is looking forward to performing again next year. For pictures: CLICK HERE.
2018 Alexandria Irish Festival
Our dancers performed at the 2018 Alexandria Irish Festival on Saturday, August 25, 2018. It was a wonderful day to celebrate everything Irish at Old Town Alexandria’s waterfront park. Huge thanks to the Ballyshaners for having us perform and for hosting a spectacular festival. 2018 Spring Recital – Passport to Ireland
Foley Academy had its first Spring Recital on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Frying Pan Park. The evening started out with delicious refreshments – pizza, pasta salads, chips, veggies, fruit, brownies, cookies, and a wonderful Foley Academy cake. Thank you to all of the parents who brought something to share! The theme for the recital was inspired by a recent trip that Shannon and her husband took to Ireland. Each dance had a corresponding story and music that helped transport our audience to a specific city or town in Ireland. All of our dancers did a wonderful job, showing that their hard work over the past couple of weeks really paid off! After the show was over, our dancers and their families were able to enjoy a Ceili dance to conclude the evening.
Our first recital was a huge success and we can’t wait for the next one! Thank you to all of our families for your support!

2018 Taste of Reston
On Saturday, June 16, 2018, Foley Academy performed at the Taste of Reston in Reston Town Center. We kicked off the afternoon in the Family Fun Zone, where our dancers demonstrated their Reels, Jigs, and Ceili Dances. We even led a 10 minute lesson for our audience members to participate in. After we finished performing, our dancers enjoyed the festival and spent a wonderful afternoon in RTC. For pictures, click HERE.
2018 Fair Lakes SpringFest
On Saturday, May 12, Foley Academy participated in the Fair Lakes SpringFest. We setup a booth with a raffle prize, free Foley Academy water bottles, stickers, and educational information about Irish Dancing. In addition, Foley Academy dancers conducted demonstrations at the booth so people passing by could watch and learn about Irish Dance. Our dancers performed their routines on the main stage to close out the festival, and then enjoyed some cotton candy and free snacks that other vendors were giving it. Spring 2018 Session is Underway!
Our Spring 2018 Session start on April 3 with all of our dancers returning from our February session! We also have a handful of new dancers joining us in both our Beginner I and Beginner II classes. Our dancers will be learning new steps, both reels and jigs, as well as one or two Ceili dances. We also have a couple of performances scheduled during the Spring Session. Check out our Calendar to come out and see us dance around the area! We can’t wait to show you our new steps and routines! Performance at Paddy Barry’s Irish Pub & Restaurant
On Friday, March 16, we had a wonderful time performing at Paddy Barry’s Irish Pub & Restaurant. We had a couple of dancers perform with us for the first time, and we were able to showcase our reels, light jigs, slip jigs, and treble reels. We also had a three had reel, a sister two hand reel, and a two hand treble reel! The dancers all did a great job! After we finished our performance, we were able to relax and enjoy the amazing food and music in the pub.
